Rancho Mirage

Rising to fame after World War II, Rancho Mirage, an elegant, luxurious city with a south-sloping valley floor and high mountain ranges on three sides, is known for its 13 premier golf courses within exclusive country clubs or golf resorts, plus outstanding tennis facilities. The Agua Caliente Casino opened in 2002, and is a favorite destination for locals, tourists, and gambling fanatics. Sunnylands Center and Gardens, owned by philanthropists and Ambassadors Walter and Leonore Annenberg, was a destination among the well to do and powerful, including Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, to name a few. Numerous U.S. Presidents sojourned at the Annenberg estate, including Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford. President Barack Obama also used Sunnylands, while in office, for summits with world leaders. At the time of his death in 2006, President Ford resided in Rancho Mirage. The Betty Ford Center, a famous and prestigious addiction rehabilitation center, is located at the Eisenhower Medical Center. Luxury auto aficionados also frequent the leading Bentley dealership, as well as one of the top Rolls Royce franchises.
